What do I plug the hole in my tranny hump with?
In my transmission hump (87 IrOC Z, 700r4) their is a hole in the transmission hump where my shift cable goes. What is intended to be in that hole because I get a lot of heat and exhaust from their. I would assume that their was a gasket their previously. What should I plug this with ?

If you can see the below pic, you'll see a large thick rubber gasket on the cable in the top of the pic - the cable should have one of these on it, they put them on during assembly - if you're missing it, you might could carefully cut one out of a JY car, or just get a new $21 cable that has it on. It's about the size of a beer can IIRC.

It's just a big rubber disc with cut in it for the shifter cable to go through it. I'd try to just tape it shut or put some foam over it or something.
