propotioning valve

When converting to disk brakes you are supposed to change the proportioning valve right? Is this necesarry? Doesnt it just transfer the ammount of pressure that go to the front/rear brakes. If it was not changed I would think that you would just keep the same percentage of braking from the front and rear as before. Is my thinking flawed in some way or can the proportioning valve be left in.

Thanks

Ben

You'd probably see better braking performance, but I've heard of guys leaving the disc/drum m/c and prop valve in, and having no problems. I swapped mine for the correct 4-wheel-disc one. You might want to ask this on the Suspension/Chassis board... or, maybe search that board for "prop valve".

if your going to 4WD you have to swap the master, booster, P-valve, and parking brake cables, if you want it to work right you have to swap ALL these things, otherwise it will stop like sh*t
