LOST GEARS->2nd, 3d and 4th.

Gota question about my T/A.Last week I was driving into town going about 60 and i kinda punched it a bit to kick it down into 3(700r4 trany)when i did it acted like it went into neutral.i stoped and put it in park and tryed going again.It would never shift in 2,3 or OD.Pissed me off... it doesnt look like the kick down cable and fluid levels good.I think the kick down band may have gotten stuck or something else like that. any info?

It sounds like you broke the governor gear (common). First check to see if the TV cable is free (not stuck) and the TV adjustment is right (as per transfixleo) on this. If it is correct, then most likely the governor gear needs to be replaced.

I had a similar problem with my trans. Mine would not shift into 3rd or 4th gear i had no problem with 2nd. With mine after 2nd gear it seemed like it was in neutral. The transmission guy told me that my third and fourth gear clutches were burned up. Hopefully this will help you. Good luck getting it fixed.
