A 700r4 is not supposed to go into 4th at WOT.

Does it go into 4th normally?

Re: 700r4 wont leave 3rd

A stock 700R4 doesn't shift into overdrive at wide open throttle. I have the same issue with mine but never really noticed it untill I changed the gears from 2.73's to 3.42's... I looked into it a while back but never got around to doing it. There are a couple of different parts out there that are supposed to solve this and if I remember right you can swap them with the tranny still in the car.

Re: 700r4 wont leave 3rd

You can block the 3-4 PT passages in the TV plunger sleeve, this will give you WOT shifts as long as the governor does not have a higher WOT shift point. This has been posted before by someone who has my instructions on how to do this. If you have a fax I can send them to you. You will need to remove the pan, filter, and the two screws that hold the bell crank on the valve body, remove the pin that is holding the TV plunger, pull the TV plunger sleeve, make the modification, (You install two Allen screws in the two 3-4 PT passages will solve this), and reinstall in reverse order. Cost of two Allen screws, $.034. Dana
