advice on daily driving of TH700R4

Ok... I know how to use the tranny at the strip, BUT...

I've got a 1987 th700r4 (the latter part of the year, with the aux valve body), and I've installed a Transgo shift kit (the full kit, not the performance kit, this one has the corvette servo and piston assembly). It shifts well now, crisp, and with my TV adjustment, I'm shifting at 5600 rpm.

QUESTION: How should I drive this tranny in town? Overdrive... Drive with Overdrive on highway? Should I manually shift it up and down as I drive?

QUESTION 2: At the strip, I run it in Drive of course, and at about 4000-4200 rpm and 80-85 mph it seems to slip/float... this is where my normal shift occurs if I leave it in Overdrive... ideas?

Thanks in advance

D/OD doesn't really matter to the 700r4... people think "D" gives the trans more pressure. Actually, the line pressure is almost doubled if your stick's in 1st or 2nd gear. You could drive around in 3rd, no problem, or 4th... doesn't matter. But, you might want to handle the 2-3 shift yourself at the track (to get extra line pressure for 1st and 2nd gears).
