is their anything other then the t.v cable to adjust the 700r4 transmission for firmer or more correct shifts

Not without getting into the acutal transmission. The t/v cable should not be used to change your shift points or firmness. It shouold be set so that your tranny will know when you are light throttle, full throttle or anywhere inbetween. You can modify valves and springs in the valve body to change shift points or the way it shifts to an extent. There is also a governer that can be replaced with one of different shift points or modified untill you get the right shift points by adding and removing weights. I think that I heard that B&M made a kit for adjusting the governer but I am not sure.

Momar answered this very well. The TV setting is only meant to relay throttle position info to the VB. If you want to get firmer shifts AND increase the life of the tranny then you will need the TransGo SHift Kit or Reprogramming Kit.
