partly. 1le also has larger brakes. it is an indicator that you have a 1le car.

JG1 was included in the 1LE package. 1LE cars have the JG1 driveshaft, but JG1 cars don't nessacarily have the 1LE package.

Apparently, I misunderstood your question. The JG1 is the RPO for what is typically called the 1LE alum drive shaft.

Technically, the shaft RPO is JG1, but since JG1 is included in 1LE "Performance Package", it is often dubbed the "1LE shaft". But to clarify, you can get the JG1 Aluminum Shaft w/o having 1LE.

GMTech is correct. I've sold more than 60 of these shafts on this site and CamaroZ28.com, and I would imagine not a single one is from a true 1LE car.

My L98 car has the JG1 driveshaft, however the 5 speed cars don't come with this. Can the 1LE driveshaft fit with the T5 manual transmission?

Yes, the so-called 1LE alum shaft will fit a T-5 (and T-56 for that matter as well as several other trannies). I have one in my 5-speed 85 IROC, though I did have to swap the rear U-joint to another size.
