4th gear going out? clutch going?

well its a 84 camaro 173 cu.in v6, 2bbl, backed with a 5spd, as far as i now non wc. well when driving and shifting into 4th gear it grinds...but not when in 4th gear or going out of it. but hes something interesting. if i double clucth it doesnt grind, you now push clutch in shift out of third, release clutch, push back in then go into 4th. so ideas? ive heard clutch going, then ive heard 4th gear going.
