Re: 86 2wd blazer 700r4
it would reqire switching the tailshaft housings. not a big job to do pretty easy. i'm not sure of this but i know some latter irocs came with an auxilliary valve body, by switching to a blazer 700r4 you may lose that. but you may not have one so you wouldn't lose any thing so. Short answer yes it will work if you switch the tailshaft housing.

Re: 86 2wd blazer 700r4
so what do i need to look for on the transmissions to figure it out?
the one from the blazer is in good condition because they're putting in a 350/350 combo
and they told me $50 takes it so i'm really hoping it'll work

To see if it has an auxilliary valve body you would have to take the trannsmision oil pan off. they only came on camaros and corvettes and not all of them had it. But for $50 and it works i would buy it. it will work in your car no matter what as long as you switch the tailshaft housing. because the blazer trans won't have the bolt holes forthe torque arm, that is why you need to switch the tailhousing. like i said before not hard to do.

The tranny from a 2.8 ANYTHING will not fit your V8. The bell-housing bolt pattern is not the same and you will not be able to bolt any 2.8 tranny to a SBC engine.

if it is a 4.3l it will work if it is a 2.8 or any other 6cyl or 4cyl. other than a 4.3L it will not work.

I noticed that the title was "86 2wd blazer 700r4". The 4.3 wasn't introduced till well after that.
