700R-4 OR 700R

I was wondering if anyone could give me a little advice i have an 85 trans am i just bought a motor and tranny(350 aprox 300hp and 700r) should i use the trans that is in the car or the one that i bought? and why?

Depends what year the other one is out of, and what shape they're both in.

what engine did you have in your car??

i would stick with one you know works properly and keep the other as a just in case if you have somewhere to keep it

my guess is that the 700r being an earlier tranny will have no overdrive, hence the lack of the 4.

The difference between a 700R and a 700R4 is that the 700R4 exists.
