Are the '92 Firebirds with the 305 TBI engine positive traction cars? Just wondering. Thanks for any info!

Re: Positive traction

Probably not. Check the SPID in the trunk for RPO code G80. Or jack up the back of the car and see if both wheels turn the same direction.

Re: Positive traction

probably not, but there is no way to know what rear ended up in the car after 18+ years.

jack up the rear of the car and rotate a tire, if the other spins in the opposite direction, its an open rear. both the same way, a limited slip

damn you drew, beat me by seconds!!!

Re: Positive traction

As I understand it, if both wheels rotate in the same direction, you have limited slip. If wheels rotate in opposite directions, you have either an open diff or a worn out limited slip. Best to drop the cover and take a peek. More info in the following link:

It's an all original car with 107k miles. I was just wondering how they came from the factory rear end wise. I'll jack it up some day, no biggy.

Re: Positive traction

Some engine packages required G80, but the L03 packages didn't. In general, most of the time G80 was an at cost option that could be added to anything. Also it's been long enough that anything could under there.
