Like the title says I'm swapping to a 700r4. I'm running a holley 700 carb and wanted to know what I am going to need. I have torque converter, flexplate, shifter, shifter cable. I know I will need a lock up kit but i think i need a "kick down" of some sort i think there is a bracket and cable that is required.

On a side note: The tranny has 2 cables on it now, and both come off the tranny and not the tail shaft (I know the one on the tail shaft is for my speedo.)

There is also a electronic plug on the side of the tranny which I know is for the converter lockup. The previous owner had a B&M lock up kit on it but it broke when he was removing it.

Also am I going to have to swap out my pedal assembly? I was going to just remove the clutch pedal and tie up the clutch fork assembly.

P.S. I used the search feature but I came up with a lot swappping from 700r4 but none if any that swap to a 700r4.

I have a 700r4 that came out of my trans am. It still shifts good, but found metal chunks in the pan. Will need rebuild soon. Ill trade it to you if you like. Just hit me up.

The two cables are the shifter cable and the throttle valve cable. You're going to need to patch the gaping manual shifter hole under the console in order to mount the automatic shifter. You'll also need a transmission cooler and it's associated plumbing.

Ok, I knew I needed a cooler and plumbing. Kinda figured that hole was a little too big.

Do I need the bracket still? I found kickdown cables and wasnt sure if i need to get the adjustable ones or not.

The cable coming out of the right side of the transmission is the TV cable, you probably don't need to buy another one. If your current throttle cable bracked doesn't have a location for the TV cable, you're going to need a bracket. The geometry corrector for the throttle arm is a good idea.

Chas, not sure what trans you are pulling out, not that it matters much, but sounds like you're a little unfamiliar with what you're putting in.
Unlike a TH350 or 400, the 700R4 has no Modulator Valve so no Vacuum line, and it does not use a 'kick down' cable.
It uses a Throttle Valve ( TV ) Cable to control all shifting related to the accelerator pedal.
Sounds like you need to research a geometry corrector kit for your specific carb.

I saw they listed TV cables on summit as well but the lokar cable Linked in one of my previous posts has the same connectors.

I could be way off base here but all help is greatly appreciated.

Ok I'm currently running a throttle bracket minus the TV cable "slot" so I will need a bracket that accepts both if I'm understanding what I have read.

The current TV cable I have should do the job but how does it connect to the carb lever? Is that where the TV correction bracket comes in?

That site didn't give much detail about the brackets it just sells them.

The correction bracket has a stud on it for the TV cable to attach to. There are lots of TV cable brackets available for Holley carbs with a 700R4, just search for one at Summit.

You need one of these to be able to latch in the cable correctly. The factory bracket wont work on the car. I used this only 4150 series holley, make sure you search for the correct one if you have a different carb. DONT buy the bracket for the TH400/TH350 trans, cuz it wont reach.

You will also require a Mr. Gasket standard ball/stud kit for your carb (unless you already have a place for the TV cable to hook onto).

Once you have it all hooked up, make sure your TV cable is adjusted properly (read tech articles on this board) and youre good to go.

It doesnt matter if u leave the pedals the way they are, your brakes will still function.

ALso, you may want to double check to make sure you have a place for the torque arm to bolt up on the 700R4. Some versions came without this feature.

Awesome! This was my perfect answer haha. The guy i got the tranny from gave me the torque arm bracket and i think its the same one as the T5.

That was the bracket I wishlisted last night so I'm on the right track.
