Power Loss At High RPMs

Alright, so I have a '91 T/A with a 305 and a 4spd auto and I'm having horrid power loss issues lately. The car hardly accelerates in any gear.

The problem first started a few days ago on the highway when I was in fourth and going about 70 and went to pass and the car dropped to third and just wouldnt accelerate. Now it hesitates in any gear. Starting from a stop light takes me forever to get up to speed.

At first I thought my third gear was screwed becuase it is the most used, but now I'm starting to think maybe its a fuel delivery problem. The car holds speed fine, but around 3,000 RPM, the engine just wont push the car in any gear and its sluggish any lower.

Steady gas in fourth will eventually get my up to any speed but once again, it takes a long while and if the computer drops it to third then I'm screwed.

Any ideas?

Re: Power Loss At High RPMs

Could be a motor issue lack of power from battery or lack of fuel to where car boggs and wont go. might be some things to check before you go deep into rippin her apart

Re: Power Loss At High RPMs

I drilled a hole through my CAT and the problem faded noticeably. I think I might just remove it until my next inspection or atleast unbolt it until I can get a high flow unit. I do believe it's clogged
