700r4 question

i was just wondering if, say in a 92 firebird with a 700r4 trans, having the speedometer hooked up has any effect on the performance of the trans and what the regular four prong plug exactly does for the trans operations. i assume it is for the lockup or something.

Re: 700r4 question

The speedometer connection has no effect on the operation of the transmission. The 4 prong plug has +12v and switched ground for the TCC solenoid, and the 4th gear signal to the ECM.
