I got this off ebay, the guy said it would fit a thirdgen camaro but the base is too big. There is no part number on it. Do you know what type of car and year it is for? How do you tell if it's T5 or T56 ?

Looks like a Pro50 T56 shifter (also fits the mustang T3550 or such iirc)

Are there Pro50 markings on it?

Yes, says power tower pro 5.0 on them. So it does not fit a T5 you think? Only T56?

Definitely not a thirdgen Camaro/Firebird T5 (Square shifter base). I remembered that the Mustang T5 used a similar shifter base, so it depends on the piece.

That looks identical to the Pro 5.0 on my T56. The one on the T5 in my Mustang looks the same, just with a different handle and the mounting holes in the base are drilled at the corners instead of 1/2" narrower. The Camaro T5 uses a much smaller shifter base then the Mustang.

The base is 3.5" x 5.75". Can anyone tell with certainty what vehicle or tranny it is off of?

The T56 shifter bolts holes are about 4.85" x 2.15" on center. The base will over hang the shifter mount so you can't use any measurements from that.
