looking for an axle

i have been looking for an axle for a little while now and so far i havn't had much luck. My 2.73 peg leg posi is broke and Im looking for a 10 bolt 3.45 posi axle with drum brakes on it I have checked several junk yards but none of them have the one that I am looking for and they are VERY expensive. where would my best bet be to find one? I am going to look some more tonite but if you guys have any good suggestions please let me know thanx.

Re: looking for an axle

not going to find a 10 bolt with 3:45's. thats a 9 bolt ratio. You would be looking for a 3:42 for a 10 bolt. Early cars could have 3:73's, but crappy disc brakes

Re: looking for an axle

why replace the old crap you have with old crap from a junk yard. You might want it cheap but when you have to replace the 20+ year old parts you just installed again when they break buying new would have been your best bet.

Re: looking for an axle

You might luck out and someone on here who has swapped their rear end out for a 9" or 12bolt may still have their 10bolt lying around.

Re: looking for an axle

i have a 9bolt laying around with 3.27 gears, posi and rear disk brakes. problem tho is that i ripped off the brackets to swap them to my ford 8.8 i fabbed up. i still have the axle brakets for the LCAs for the 9bolt and it has UMI LCARBS already welded on.

you just have to look around i guess... i found 3 forth gen rears with disks and posi's at local salvage yards. couldnt be that much money... i got my ford 8.8 for like 300$ im sure the 4th gen rear would have been close to that.
