how to know when a rear is done ?

well today i was coming for my friends house start the car and put it in to drive there was a loud bang form the rear loud (so loud my friend heard it in his house). Did real think much of it maybe i should have waited to the car warmed up. then i was at a light and was turning right and heard a *PING* then what sound like dragging metal i stopped check everything even took out the tires one by one nothing. so i was think i ran over something. so i start driving and hit the highway 35 ..... 45........55....60 dragging metal sound but 10 times louder form the passenger side rear WTF so i pull over again nothing i make it home and check everything nothing is hanging or pulling or stuck.
so i start playing with the drum turning it left and right and with every turn you hear ping ..ping .....ping now I'm thinking is it the brakes but they work fine. so i put the tires on and car in drive ping ping then i move jerk forward take it around the block every time i turn it sounds like dragging metal .

i don't how or why this happen the rear was fine the day before

If you've sheared teeth, your best bet is a pro to set up the new gears.

Dude!!!!! same thing happened to me!! do you have drums in the rear??? Mine the same crap i was out driving BANG! then dragging metal sounds for like a week on the passenger side it drove me nuts! So i was under my car one day and i just happened to look at my passenger drum and the dust cap that sticks in the drum to keep water out was gone and there was a F in spring sticking out turns out the rear drums where toast springs, shoes, and drums everything was dead before taking the rear end apart because that's what i thought it was look at your drums believe it or not

OMG i soooo happy right now it was the tran mount it broken for the 4th time but it was worst the ploy bushing was completely gone and just the metal was hitting and the knuckle was grinding against the Cat heat shield. was a easy fix just put i new one in lol and back to

but the thing is how can a V6 firebird break so many transmission mounts my friend has a camaro with a 383 like 530 hp and 577 TQ and he still has the same rubber mount for 4-6 year and beat the ***** out his car and my little v6 3.1 133hp and 173 TQ and it's breaking mounts like every year lol

Re: how to know when a rear is done ?

i would see if all of your engine mounts are good. if you keep toasting tranny mounts it's possible there is too much movement somewhere along the line causing them to give
