v8 swap into v6 car
v8 swap into v6 car
i just bought a 1988 firebird and i want to put a 305 into it, i know i need to move the motor mounts and all that fun stuff, but what about the bellhousing for the transmission? i know the v6 transmission is weak but it was freshly rebuilt and i figure if i dont beat it up it will last maybe 6 months, what else will i need to make this swap possible transmission wise? i know bellhousing but what about the flywheel and clutch? i heard theres a 10 inch s10 clutch that will fit on the tranny but do i just use a v8 camaro flywheel?
Re: v8 swap into v6 car
You would need the v8 bellhousing if it is a manual, or a v8 auto trans if it is an automatic, The bolt patterns are different between the v6 and v8.

X2 on that^. From your post it sounds like you have the manual trans. Bell housing for sure but I am not sure what else.
