hurst shifter or b&m

i have a hurst quarter stick and a b&m mega shifter problem is they are both for a 3 speed trans and i have a 4 speed trans. can i install 1 and just loose the ability to shift into 1.will it still shift into first automatically when the car starts out or will i b locked out of 1 gear compleetely?

mega shifters are for 3 and 4 speeds. You just have to pull out a pin to allow it to shift another time.

this is an old unit i have looked at the instruction sheet for this shifter on the net.it does not have that pin or a hole in that area where it was removed.i hate to have to buy another shifter when i already have 2 that i cant use.i never shift into 1 gear any way i do not drag the car it is street driven just want to utilize what i have if i could make it work.

When i bought my Camaro, the Megashifter had the pin installed and it had a 700R4 trans. It just simply wouldn't manually shift to 1st. No biggie if you aren't going to manually shift to 1st. I pulled the pin when i found it of course.. lol


How old is the unit? Mine's got to be at least 10 yrs or so.

post a pic of the megashifter, but these people are correct, you will have Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, 3, 2.

it has got to b at least that if not more i down loaded the instalation instructions from b&m and that shows the pin but like i said there is no pin or hole.and no i dont ever shift into 1'st the only gear i use is od, rev, or park cant get pic right now im at work.ill try to get some tonight.i do perfer the hurst over the b&m.

why not sell those and keep the stock shifter?

I mean the main reason in having a B&M megashifter is to be able to ratchet through the gears. Functionally speaking all you need is the stock shifter. But they do look great installed.
