How To Fix Detent/T.V Cable
How To Fix Detent/T.V Cable
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had the clip that holds the detent/tv cable to the throttle body break so I thought I would share how to fix it without buying a new cable. When i bought my 1990 rs V6 the previous owner had broke the clip and used metal wire to hold the cable to the throttle body. I bought a new cable and was going to change it out and then I found out that both ATP and Dorman make a replacement clip. I bought the ATP clip first and installed it but when you push the gas the pressure against the clip causes it to expand and could cause it to slip off and fry the trans. I then bought the Dorman clip which is designed differently and fits perfect. Here are the part numbers for the clips

Damn, this thread is about 2 weeks too late. I just replaced the cable on my brother car becuase this clip broke.

You still have to cut the end of the cable off to slip the new clip over. You cant adjust the 3/8"-1/2" of missing cable back on there. Besides, a new TV cable is $24 from atuozone

the one on the right is the one you want, i purchased it from patc.
install it and adjust the cable
theres no cutting the cable. the cable goes through the mount hole and theres a small slot on opposite sides, kind of a under and over system and the throttle arm mount locks it in.
