name that sensor!!

hey everybody!

i bought a t-5 pedal assembly recently and there's one sensor that's stumping the hell out of me. I was told the pedals came off of a 1987 car. i know on the clutch pedal there's the cruise control and the neutral safety switches, and on the brake pedal there's the brake light switch, but right next to the brake light switch is a little black switch i have no idea is for. i don't have a sensor like that on my automatic pedals. enlighten me, guys!

P.S. sorry for the sideways view. not sure why it turned it around.

looks like the BTSI. Brake Transmission Shift Interlock. Doesn't let you shift without having your foot on the brake.

Re: name that sensor!!

looking at it again, I would think the ltblue/orange wires are your brakes and the circular thing looks like your cruise/vacuum deactivate. Are you asking what the two wire plug is for?

Lol. Happens to me alot. Youre dead on too. That is a cruise vacuum defeat. Seen it before. The Gry and Gry/Wht wires are cruise defeat sw. Org and Blue are brake lights.

Re: name that sensor!!

thanks for the input, fellas! i don't know the wire colors for this sensor. heck i don't even know what it's for! lol my 1988 GTA has cruise control but doesn't have this simple black switch on the brake pedal. all it has is the cruise control cancel switch (the one with the electrical connector and the vacuum port for the hose).

Re: name that sensor!!

Sorry for disappearing on you. Been busy at work. I belive that the black piece is the cruise control vacuum defeat switch. Its been a while since Ive worked on one like that. The switch with the gray wires is elec cruise defeat. It doesnt have a vac port does it? I dont remember that.

it's ok. so there's two cruise control defeats on a clutch pedal assembly? there's a cruise control defeat switch with a vacuum port on the clutch pedal side (has two gray wires). it looks exactly like the cruise control switch that i have on my automatic brake pedal assembly. so a vac hose should go to the black sensor too?
