Re: shift cable issue
Woohoo, thank you VERY much 84 z28! Got 1 of 2 New GM cables left at Hawks!
Don't really know whey I didn't think to check with them before... I guess I just assumed they did not actually stock parts like this, I thought they would just get it directly from the dealer and have the same result the dealer does. Just made my day!

Re: shift cable issue
No car dealerships in Rochester have them. There a discontinued part from GM. Hawks is one of the last places I have seen a GM shifter cable. And you might get lucky on ebay once in a while.

Re: shift cable issue
I've checked a few of the dealers nearby me, and they tell you it's discontinued, end of story... When I lived on the west side of town in Ogden, I use to go to Doan in Spencerport, the parts guys there were GREAT! The guys (especially on the night crew (open till midnight)) would really help me out digging up discontinued items through dealer accessible warehouses. I have yet to come accross another Chevy dealer willing to take that extra step for you.
Thanks again for the Hawks suggestion, I'll keep them in mind for more items now that I know they actually stock the GM parts.
