Re: One tire Fire

You can install a Lock Right in the differential that you have now. They are easy to install with normal hand tools.

Re: One tire Fire

Depends on what type of differential you have, if you have an open or standard diff., that's just what it will do. If you have a posi or limited slip, you can rebuild or replace the posi.

Re: One tire Fire

A Berlinetta would most probably have come with an open rear (without posi).

You could put a posi carrier in it, or a locker; or get a whole other rear.

Short of that, about all you can do to keep from the one-wheel-peel thing, is keep your foot out of it. Not sure what else you're looking for here?

Re: One tire Fire

Nothing is different btw an open and a standard diff.

These are the two types:

1= open, standard, peg leg, one tire fryer...spins one tire usually the right one, or the one with the least traction.

2= posi, sure grip, locker.... has clutch packs or cones or ratchet locks, spins them both most of the time.

Re: One tire Fire

I guess depending on finances, i would look for a posi rear end, new or used. But keep in mind if you change the gear ratio, you will have to also change your speedometer gear to maintain the correct speed.

Re: One tire Fire

Chances are that if you find a used 3rd gen posi rear end it will be worn out and useless. These rear ends had the Auburn differential, which can not be rebuilt when they wear out. When a Auburn wears out you take it out and toss it in the scrap metal pile and buy a new one. Installing a new Eaton in your rear end would be a good idea, but you must have a 3.23 to 4.10 gear to use the Eaton. The Lock Right is the easiest to install and it will work in the differential that you already have. You just take out the 4 gears inside the differential and put in the Lock Right in their place.

Probably the best advice you'll get.
