Aluminum drivesahft standard on ws6 package?

Ive got a 89 GTA with ws6 package. I've heard the ws6, among other things, includes an aluminum drive shaft? What i am wondering is without access to visually inspecting the drive shaft to get a part #, How can i tell if my GTA has the aluminum shaft?

I guess that just by looking at it u would be able to tell that its aluminum, a steel one would just look all rusty etc, i dont know.

No it is not standard on those, regardless of what WS6 meant in any particular year (it varied quite a bit and nobody really cared much about it until they put stickers saying it on the side of 98-up TAs). It's is a suspension option package in any case, not drive train. But is is fairly common.

What he said: steel rusts, aluminum doesn't. Also, magnets stick to steel, but not aluminum.

Also for some reason aluminum driveshafts kinda look thicker, my stock steel one is like 2 inches thick.

RPO JG1 indicates alum shaft, but who knows what might or might not be in the car at this stage. Best bet is to take a peek.
