cleaning debris out of torque converter
I had a new tranny fail on me which obviously sent aluminum debri all through the system including the torque converter which is new. Is there a way to clean out the converter to get rid of all the debri ?

It has to be rebuilt... cut apart on a lathe, cleaned out, welded back together, and rebalanced.

Re: cleaning debris out of torque converter
Sure. 2 easy steps.
Step 1. Buy new torque converter
Step 2. Turn in old ruined torque converter as core
Done.
There! that was eeeeezy, eh?

Re: cleaning debris out of torque converter
if it was mine ,i'd try to flush it out-drill a drain hole of
about 5/16 in the outer edge, then flush through the
neck with solvent while periodicly rotating the turbine
and stator members-once no particles appear, tap the
hole for a thin, allen head 1/8 pipe plug apply good
sealant, install plug, stake or tack weld plug in place
Earlier this year had the opposite problem-torque
converter (aftermarket "stall")blew it's thrust bearing
and sent the debris through the tranny, had to drop
the tranny partly dissasemble and muck out the
debris,reassemble and reinstall-all good again

Re: cleaning debris out of torque converter
I wouldnt suggest touching a converter with any sort of cutting tool unless you work at a trans shop
Would you shorten your own driveshaft? Grind down a crank? Same applies here
