Limited Slip Differential for 700-R4
Hey, I plan on geting limited slip differential for my one wheel wonder firebird. I was wondering how do i find the right differential? I dont know where to start...ANY help is needed!@ THANKS
Re: Limited Slip Differential for 700-R4
For street/strip use I only recommend 2, the Eaton Posi and the Duragrip. These are almost exactly the same except for the clutch material and the price. For road racing or auto cross the Torsen might work a little smoother. What gear ratio do you have?

There is an Eaton Posi and a Duragrip for the 7.5 rear end that you have. They are made with 26 and 28 splines to fit whatever axles you have. They are only made in 3 series, which will work just fine with your 3.23 gears.

Re: Limited Slip Differential for 700-R4
I saw a thread about the PowerTrax(?) no-slip device that can be added to the existing diff. Is that any good? Cheap? Easy?
Re: Limited Slip Differential for 700-R4
Yea, it's easier to install and it's slightly cheaper. They usually pop and jerk slightly when turning corners, but not too bad. The Eaton and Duragrip are smoother.

Re: Limited Slip Differential for 700-R4
The install for a first timer can be very frustrating, but technically it's not really that hard if you have the right tools. Stuff just doesn't drop in and go; you need to check, measure, check, measure a few times. It's all about that contact pattern and the preload. If it's off by a few thousandths, it will make noise. Trust me, you don't want the noise.
If you wanna do it right, you will need spend some money on tools. You can improvise, however, you have to be careful.
