could always try to search a bit, this is covered thousands of times.
your only options are very expensive, and it would be cheaper to use a t56.
Use a stock replacement clutch, and dont powershift the thing or dump the clutch at high rpms and it will do just fine.
Dished pistons arent helping make power, why not keep the flat tops?, and "mild cam" is meaningless as far as power potential.

Gforce makes a beefier case, which some people have use with good results. Or you can get a completely built t5 from them at the mere cost of a little over 2k.
a rebuild wouldn't hurt on a 20 year old trans, but like i said before, iof you dont abuse the trans it will be fine. Just because you are bolting a 350 to it doesnt mean its going to just blow up instantly.

it stretches,(weak)plus input shaft is smaller. I'm doin the same thing.I got a older 350(not out of a camaro)its a dirt track motor,,300 hrs heads highrise 750dbl pumper etc.. anyway im going to put it in there & take it easy til i can afford the t56..thats the only thing that makes sense, unless u want 2 put a automatic in it..GOOD LUCK!! it wont be cheap,, I remember a saying off the movie "Mad Max''.. it goes.."SPEED IS A QUESTION OF MONEY,,HOW FAST DO YOU WANNA GO''!!?? .....

Re: 350 and T5 behind it HELP...
Depends on the transmission.
"Electric" and "mechanical" are not properties of the "transmission", as such; much like, "oil brand" is not a property of "engine". You put in whichever you want.
Not sure about "T54"; never heard of that. But a T-5, you just take the electric sender thing out, and put a cable-drive "bullet" in, with the right gear. Go here http://www.transmissioncenter.net/sp...____va.htm#350 for info.

Re: 350 and T5 behind it HELP...
A mech speedo in a T-56 is an entirely different matter. Not near as simple as in a T-5.
But yeah, I highly recommend getting one, regardless. After tearing up I lost count of how many T-5s in my car (about a half-dozen cores and probably 15-18 "rebuilds") I finally put a T-56 in it, and wish I'd done it at least a decade earlier.
