Check it out, let me know what you think. The one with the dial indicator is the drive side, the other is the coast.

Looks good you can try for perfection but these rears always seem to make a small amount of noise. Your pattern does look good though.

Move pattern further to the root, it's on the outside too much

Th e pinion is not deep enough. Add about .005 to the shim and try again. Post more pictures.

This is .034 behind the pinion bearing with a tight (.06) BL.

This is .034 behind the pinion bearing with the backlash fixed (.011) I feel as if I could go another 5 thou in the pinion... what do you all think?

OK I think the pinion depth is good at .037. Now the backlash is between .06 and .09 in different places around the gear. Should I open up the backlash to move the pattern more towards the heel?

Re: What do you think of this ring and pinion patter?

Ok this is .037 pinion with the backlash around .011, I'm not making any more adjustments today. I tried a .040 behind the pinion but the pattern was too far toward the root.

You need to post pictures of the coast side too. You are close, but I need to see both sides of the tooth.

THIS WAS .040 BEHIND THE PINION

I think you've got it. What was the manufacturer's recommended backlash for the gears?

Re: What do you think of this ring and pinion patter?

its .010 +/- .004 but the less the lash the further the pattern is to the toe which makes me feel like its going to whine. I just want it to be as quiet as possible, I'm in no rush...

Ok I'm gonna try to go a little deeper with the pinion, will 1 or 2 thousandths in the pinion shim make a difference in the pattern?

Re: What do you think of this ring and pinion patter?

The last images I posted were actually with .040 behind the pinion (I amended the post.) The pictures below are with .042 behind the pinion. Why is the pattern so close to the toe? Its pretty much off the edge. The backlash ranges from .009 to .014 checking different spots around the ring gear.

The drive side seems to be more centered between the root and crown but the coast side doesn't look at good as when the pinion had .040 behind it.

What do you think I should do?

Re: What do you think of this ring and pinion patter?

Looks like the pinion is too deep now. Your pattern has shifted toward the root of the tooth.

Good deal, I will go back to the .040, is there anything else I should be aware of during the final assembly?

Be carefull when setting the bearing preload. It's real easy to go too far, and then you have to get a new crush spacer and start over again.
