Is it worth it?????

Long story short I got a 2000 Camaro rear, put Richmond 3:42's in it and now that its in the car I see it has a bent axle. I've called every junkyard around and cant find an axle, but I'm still worried I'll just end up with another tweaked one. A set of Superior or Moser's is about $250 plus bearings and seals.

My question is, is it worth it to do the aftermarkets or keep looking for a used one? I'm just concerned that when I get sticky tires and start doing 2400rpm launches that I'll break the rear I just spent $300 replacing the axles in. Thanks.

just look for a used one. the ring and pinion will probably fail before you break the axle.

I would go with new ones. I don't think you can go wrong with Moser's/Superior. $250 will seem pretty cheap if your rear end blows up. Can you say "pole vault"?. Also, make sure your suspension is dialed in. You would be amazed at what a nice set of Koni's will do for your handing (and launches).

The Superior set comes with studs, bearings & seals. Best way to go.

That says 93-97, do the axles work in a 98-02? I know the length of the housing is longer I wasnt sure if the axles were to.

Re: Is it worth it?????

That I'm not sure of... they give the length in the poop sheet, compare that to your old ones.

Re: Is it worth it?????

They both say 32" but there's got to be something that makes them 93-97 specific, anyone have any input? I might have to ask Superior.

Re: Is it worth it?????

I would ask them. Maybe the Torsen differentials in the 98 and newer use a different spline count or something.

Re: Is it worth it?????

Spline count is the same.

I'd be more inclined to suspect something to do with the brakes, that being all that's different... outer dia of the flange, ABS reluctor provisions, or that sort of thing. Very possibly, something that wouldn't matter in the application at hand. Definitely ask Superior and see what they can tell you.

Re: Is it worth it?????

I looked on there website and they have the same kit for 98-02 rear's and its actually a little bit cheaper at $230. Summit has it but for some reason it doesnt show up when you put in 2000 Camaro?????? Well I think that is the way I'll go.

Re: Is it worth it?????

Thanks; good to know. I wonder why even though it's available at Summit if you type it in, it doesn't come up in the search. Oh well.... I guess a human must have been involved somewhere, I hear those stupid things can bollix up ANYTHING.
