Slap shifter issue

I have a B&M slap shifter in my 85 iroc. came with it when i bought it and i know little about it. i had to replace the cable when i lost shifting capabilities. i have it adjusted one of 2 ways: i can either hit every gear but 1st and have the ability to slap it into reverse without pulling the trigger mech OR i can hit every gear and require using the trigger mech to shift into reverse but will barely touch park (most times wont even shift into park). what do i do?

Re: Slap shifter issue

i've been up and down them and they don't give how to fine tune it. however after about a day and a half of thinking and about 3 hours of toying with it, i finally got it to hit all gears and park

Re: Slap shifter issue

way to go. Its not that hard to do at all. best thing to do is have a buddy inside the car working the shifter and you can be beneath the car so you can fine tune it properly. I did it by myself but getting up and down isnt fun. Its fairly easy to do. Looks like you got it now so good job.

Re: Slap shifter issue

basically it allows you to upshift manually without worrying on misshifting or going into R or N because the shifter ratchets into each gear. So you just have to slap the shifter to shift you dont have to focus. This is mainly handy for drag racing. You can purchase a number of different option one that fits in the stock console is the B&M megashifter

Re: Slap shifter issue

are they hard to install? and do you need to do anything special to your transmission such as new clutches or anything?

Re: Slap shifter issue

no its all external of the transmission. if you have basic mechanical knowledge you will be able to do it. Will take you 4 hours or so on the B&M megashifter console model.
