Welcome to the world of owning an old vehicle. The older you go, the worse it gets.

Always a plus when you find out your car has been properly cared for at one point in its life. I have an 89 F150, and it has had the MINIMUM maintenance required to keep it running its whole life.. I am still finding all sorts of crazy cut-corners that I now have to deal with, and I have owned the truck for 4 years..

Re: if its not one thing its another

well i know the last owner cared for it quite well i have a large and detailed folder of all the things he did to it, and many many receipts for some not too cheap things

he used to own a pontiac dealership, and had bought my car to fix up for his wife

Sounds like you found yourself a good one then. Congratulations on that. I got my crapmaro from my cousin. He gave it to me, after he let it sit for 14 years, 4 of which were outside.. You can imagine the problems I am having with it..

Re: if its not one thing its another

if your a small guy like me (5'9" 130lbs) get underneath and check it all out, after that i'd say get alot of wd-40 and go to town cleaning it all up underneath the suspension, tranny, diff, mines now spotless underneath and from this day forward i wont drive her in the rain, also clean the terminals, all the wires and any grease or oil on the engine, clean may not make it run better, but it makes it easier to work on
