Stuck in N
Stuck in N
Hello all! This is my first post on 3rd gen and surfing the site has me excited already. A small bit about my car first, 1986 IROC Z28. Fully built 383. If you would like a break down of the engine specs ask and i will start the list lol. Here is a video of the car and i with open headers, sorry its a little dark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaDPuWr_buk
My real question is, why my tranny is acting up. When the car is NOT running it will go into any gear. (T-5) While the car is running it will not go into any gear. It dosent grind just refuses to go into gear. I have blead the clutch and just dont understand. Everything worked to a T when the 305 was in the car but as we all know that little 305 just isnt enough. i hope i can get some help. Thanks all.

Re: Stuck in N
[ Off- it shifts, On- it doesn't ] means the clutch isn't releasing.
On the T5 slave cylinders with a bleeder screw up high, get a helper to push gently on the pedal and open the bleeder. This pressure bleeding should be all that's required.
Also (and if you search, you'll see a number of posts about it,) the fork and it's attached spring clip should be in the same groove on the throwout bearing. If the clip is installed outside that groove, it will cause release issues as well.
Any other parts like the clutch get changed with the swap?
