700R4 cable/electronic speedometer

Hello guys. I need some quick help. Im gonna buy a used 700R4 tomorrow for my 86 IROC (cable speedometer cable). But the tranny is a electronic speedometer type. So my question is, could I convert the electronic tranny to accept the cable speedometer cable?

Yes. Pull the electric and insert the cable housing and gear. Hopefully, the drive gear will be the same or you'll have to swap yours in to make the speedo read correctly.

JamesC, hows it going man. So thats it? Remove the tail shaft housing, count the teeth on the gear and swap out the electric housing gear thing? Sounds almost too easy. So as long as the tranny is a TCC, I should have absolutely no problems with the swap right?

Yep. 92-down TCC connector should be the same; '93 was different.

You may be able to count the teeth through the 'hole' where the cable housing inserts, thus saving yourself some time if the count in the new trans is the same as your old.
