TKO 600 problems

I have been having 2 problems with my tko 600. The first is that it is leaking in between the bellhousing and the transmission. I guess that it is the front bearing retainer that is leaking and I just need to take it back out and silicone the cover? The second is that I am having problems with higher rpm/faster shifts into 3rd gear. Is there anybody that has had these problems and found somebody to contact to fix them? This tranny only has about 200 miles on it now.

Re: TKO 600 problems

What belhousing did you use for the conversion? I had a similar issue with conversion on a 2nd gen Camaro. I used an aftermarket belhousing and the alignment was off. My leak was actually the input shaft seal as the input shaft was misaligned due to the belhousing being off. Also did not shift well. After I aligned the belhousing the leak was gone and shifting was much better.

Re: TKO 600 problems

It will happen around 5000 rpm. I am definetly not beating on the car and I am driving it pretty easy for the break in. I just tried a somewhat higher rpm shift once or twice and came across this problem. I am using a Lakewood bellhousing.

Re: TKO 600 problems

Well I just pulled the tranny out earlier and the front bearing retainer plate is snapped into two and it looks like part of the bearing behind it is ruined. What could have possibly caused this?

maybe a defective part?

Re: TKO 600 problems

Well I pulled off the part the bolts to the front of the tranny with four bolts. (bearing retainer plate?) The round piece that goes on the end of it around the input shaft is snapped off and the plate that bolts to the tranny has the center piece broken out of it. The bearing I am referring to is for the input shaft. Any ideas? I will be calling them tomorrow.

Re: TKO 600 problems

I checked the runout and it was within spec. I was just looking at my reciepts and don't know if this is possibly the problem or not. My tranny that I recieved is listed as model number TCET5008. That's the ford model as I read and the GM is the TCET5009. Is this a problem or do they just modify the 5008's to fit a 3rd gen camaro?
