Re: 700r4 swap to turbo 350

A buddy and I recently completed this swap in an 82 Firebird that originally had an TH200C. The swap is pretty straight forward. You will need the expensive torque arm bracket. I used the B&M kit. For the cross member you have 2 cheap options. You reuse yours or use a TH200C cross member. It depends on which torque arm kit you ordered. Since I used the B&M which comes with transmission relocation bracket you could use the one that's on your 700r4. Now the drive shaft depends on which tail shaft you have. 9" tail shaft you can reuse your 700r4 drive shaft, but if you have a 6" tail shaft you have to use a th200c or a custom drive shaft. Transmission lines should hook up normally. Also the speedo cable is not an issue might have to swap the speedo gear. Probably the most tricky part of the swap is the dipstick. We got away with using a chevy truck dipstick but I'm not sure what year it came out of. Their are probably multiple solutions but there is not much info about which dipstick works and which do not. I Believe I covered everything. Best luck to you.

Including the price of the transmission from a salvage yard. Looking at around $400 is what we got in the swap. The B&M kit is $100 alone.
