Could also be a cable issue since he has an '87.

cable is good Aaron_SK...gonna mess with it 2mar some i cldnt find a speed buffer any where i thought the 87 didnt have it. i picked up 3 cc modules an 2 of which are the same as wat i have so i'm hoping thats the problem. also gonna check the shift cable cause its hard manually shift all the way down to 1st gear.

On your '87 Camaro the VSS buffer is on the back of the gauge cluster.

Re: lockup and cruise problems

ok so here is what i found it is locking up but still no cc the wiper switch is broke so that explains the cc not working. also the factory tach is way wrong i hocked up two other aftermarket tach's to confirm it was wrong its fast by 400 rpm. the po had a hot wire going from one of the relays to the coil so i guess they screwed the tach up, a replacement should be an easy find at the local yard but may be a day or two before i have time to get it. there sure are alot of bugs to work out of one if it sits dormant for 4/5 years.

Re: lockup and cruise problems

ok guys i messed with it all evening i changed the cc module and got my shifter fixed. took it for a ride and still no lockup in overdrive. its taching bout 2 grand at 60 mph and i keep waiting on it to lockup. the only thing i have not changed is the vss, will any vss work as long as it is 86 up? my speedo is a 145 will a vss work off a 110 speedo, cause i have a couple of those laying arround from the junk yard trips. any help would be greatly appreciated.
