loud thump when car shifts from 1st to 2nd

I'm looking at buying a 1987 5.7lt automatic iroc with 16000 miles on it. When I took it for a test drive it's shifting very hard and there was a loud thump or knock that came from under the car. It sounded like it came from the transmission. The guy selling it said he thinks there is a shift kit added but wasn't sure. I was thinking it was the trans mount but wanted some other peoples thought on it before I buy the car and end up replacing a lot more than just the trans mount. Thanks for any help you can be.

Thanks, like I said I thought it was the trans mount and I do plan on getting a poly replacement.
