2.73 to 3.23?

Just wondering what you all have experienced with a swap like this. I have 273's now and was wondering if i went to a 323 rear end, then am i just looking at better "off the line" power or will i gain everywhere else too?

If you are gonna do the switch or even put time into this. Do it right the first time and go 3.42s to max results.

I went from 2.73 to 3.42 in my 87 305 carb and 700r. With that there is a little bit more roar on the freeway, but not much. Your 350 with bolt ons has probably double or more power then my stock 305. You can easily handle the 3.42's, and there just as easy to find as the 3.23's

What ever you decide, you will need to replace the carrier with a 3 series carrier. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-10-bolts.html

They do make 3.42 gear sets for 2 series carriers. I also saw a ring gear spacer to enable you to use 3 series gears on a 2 series carrier.

Ill second this... I just swapped a 3.42 w/ disc brakes from a 2002 v6 fourth gen into my 91... Everything bolted up perfect... even the brakes bolted up... I picked the rear end up from U-pick junkyard for $138 and paid $300 for the installation of a truetrac and new axle bearings...

For what its worth, I am definetly happy with the results!
