88 TA rear end?

Looking at getting a 88 TA rear for my 88 camaro. This should be a direct bolt in right? Claims to have a 3.23:1 posi unit in it. Is it worth 300 bucks.

Rear has disc brakes and aluminum calipers

From what I have seen locally (SE Georgia) 300 bucks is about right provided you dont have to completely rebuild it, and, yes, it should bolt right in.

Rear has disc brakes and aluminum calipers
If the rotors are 11.7" accompanied by alum PBR calipers, the brakes have either been swapped on the car or the rear isn't from an 88 (should be 89+).

Verify whether the rear is a 9- or 10-bolt. You'll need a first design 1LE combination valve for best braking performance, parking brake cables, and speedo drive and/or driven gears to make the speedo function correctly.

It is a 10 bolt rear and it does have the PBR calipers. Im not sure about the rotor size I can measure and post later. I also plan to put Autometer gauges in sooner or later. Any tips on how to clean it up for paint? Are the drum brake axles the same as the disc? the studs on the axles look awful short. Ill try to post some pics later

You'll find the answer in the following link, along with other info that you may find interesting:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-10-bolts.html

EDIT: BTW, if the rear is a 10-bolt with PBR's, it'll be 90+.

Re: 88 TA rear end?

Is there anyway I can get a aftermarket combo valve and use that? I plan on running all new brake lines etc. while I'm under the car. Thanks for the help

Sure, though you may have to do some plumbing.

what do you mean by plumbing? Also with the parking brake, I don't have to have that hooked up right? I planned on removing the handle from the interior as I have plans for that spot.

The after market piece won't be a bolt-in. You may have to bend and flare lines--for me personally, the correct OE valve would be simpler. At any rate, the after market is common enough. A search should turn up a ton of info.

No, unless you have to pass an inspection. If you're running a T-5, you'll miss the parking brake in the long run.
