Why does my trans shift at 6200 RPM?

I've recently purchased an '85 IROC. 40K miles, LB9/700R4/3.42. I haven't driven it much yet, just around the neighborhood. Trans seems to shift fine, except at WOT, it shifts from 1-2 at 6200 RPM. Should be more like 5500. What do we think?

BTW, I've already adjusted the TV cable. The car spent alot of years just sitting, wonder if it has a 'sticky' valve or something...

I know that is true of the '90-'92 electronic tachs, but I've never heard of that on the earlier cars.

Re: Why does my trans shift at 6200 RPM?

It looks like it was my TV cable. I had to fiddle with it a little before it would adjust properly. The 1-2 WOT shift happens at 5500, just like it's supposed to.

I'd make sure the tranny pressures are within the correct range. The TV adjustment is critical on The 700r4s. you can damage it pretty quick.
