Auto to manual 85 trans am

Hey all, I'm considering changing my 85 trans am from a 4 speed overdrive auto to a manual, this is my first car, and I'm learning everything as i go. I have a lot of Mechanics around to help me with this, but none of them are specialists with F body cars. So, heres my question to you, I plan on putting an LS1 350 in the car, so what kind of transmission do i need, and what all do i need to fabricate the clutch, shift stick, etc etc to make this possible, or is this even possible? lol thank you all in advance.

Re: Auto to manual 85 trans am

Easiest way to swap from an auto to a manual, 2 simple steps:

1. Sell auto car

2. Buy stick car

Reason being, the only practical way to do it, is to have a complete stick car to get all the parts out of. You need pedals, BH, trans, hydraulics, shifter, console top, and a few minor incidentals like some bolts. Easiest way to get that, is out of a complete stick car. But if you have that, it's FAR easier to swap engines, than to make that conversion.

Not sure what you mean by "LS1 350"; the LS1 is about 346 or something. But, if you get a LS1/T-56 setup and a stick 3rd gen body, it's pretty much a drop-in.
