Hawks t-56 conversion kit or piece everything together myself? Thoughts of the kit?

I have been thinking about doing a t-56 conversion for a while now, and seeing the Hawks kit appears it would make it a lot easier to do. Talking with my buddies, they believe it is over priced, and believe I should piece everything together myself.

What do you guys think? Is the kit worth it? Has anyone here used it?

Its not too bad of a price if you dont have time to peice it all together, honestly i was expecting it would of been $2500. Probably not a good deal if you plan on buying a new clutch, flywheel and hydraulics.

I'd be a bit sceptical as to what cross member they inculde (to fit a 3rd gen) though, it says 'used' and I'm pretty sure the 4th gen one doesnt fit (frame rails are different angles) and the 3rd gen T-5 and 700R4 dont fit a T-56.

It is not a cheap swap. But EVERYTHING hawks is overpriced. I'd piecemeal it together over time. You'll save money. Go with a factory clutch too.

Honestly the price didn't seem to bad to me because part of what your paying for is the convenience. What I worry about is how used are all the parts?

Re: Hawks t-56 conversion kit or piece everything together myself? Thoughts of the ki

get everything by pieces but if ur going to buy the conversion kit the only parts i would probably change would be the master/slave cylinder and the clutch disk. im in the process of getting things by pieces so these are the prices i've paid so far:
$55 pedal assembly
$25 cross member
$100 bellhousing w/ bolts and slave spacer
$85 for speedo signal converter.
so $265 spent so far im guessing $900-$1300 for the t56 (some people will only sell their tranny if you buy it as a bundle ie flywheel, clutch etc)
so at the most i feel like the swap will be coming at 1600-1800 with good parts. hawks is $2,200 plus $50 for putting it in a box plus the cost of shipping plus any replacement of their "USED" parts. so its starts adding fast!

ps actually in the ltx and lsx forums Roostmeyer is selling a pretty good bundle
