need diff cover gasket and fluid help please!
So my diff cover is leaking so I went to the store and got the gasket and fluid. They said the 10bolt needs 3qts of 80/90 and a tube of this posi track additive. Are the 10 bolts a limited slip? I thought they were open

If you have an open diff it should not hurt any to use the posi additive

A TBI car would most likely not have come with a posi; but who knows.
Don't bother with a paper gasket. Use the tubular style instead.

When you have the cover off, look in the little "window" in the carrier. If you see nothing but 4 small gears and a shaft, it's not a posi. If you see springs and plates, it is. If you see 2 little tiny weights mounted up on 2 little tiny shafts about the size of coat hanger wire, it's an Eaton "Gov-Lock" a.k.a. "Grenade-Bomb"; be REAL CAREFUL about how much abuse you put to it, because those have a nasty habit of ..... yup, you guessed it, from the nickname .... EXPLODING. Literally. Like, with enough force to eject shrapnel through the cover. One guy on here posted up a pic where his exploded so forcefully that a bunch of the shrapnel ended up inside his gas tank
Glad none of it was red-hot or sparking just as it hit that. If it's a posi, put the additive in first, then fill it the rest of the way up to the plug level with the fluid. Should take just about 2 quarts; won't take 3, with a stock cover.
