Where to mount trans cooler?

I have a single cooling fan setup on my radiator. The cooler I have is about 12x9". Should I mount the trans cooler directly in front of the fan or off to the side? In my state there is no front license plate required so I could remove the plate bracket for better air flow if it would help. just looking for the most efficient place to put it.

Re: Where to mount trans cooler?

The best place on a street car is anywhere in front of the rad.

Don't use the zip ties that go through the rad. Make up some brackets to hold the cooler in front of the rad.

Re: Where to mount trans cooler?

looks like you used some light 90* angle bolted to the core support? I can't tell if you used support on the top. my kit came with "plumbers tape" which I was thinking of using as support for the top.
My cooler looks just like the oil cooler in the pic.

Re: Where to mount trans cooler?

Definitely mount it behind one of the grille opening in front of the radiator. This will give you good cooling and will offer protection from rocks and road debris. And yes you should mount it using a more solid means than zip ties.

Re: Where to mount trans cooler?

I would put it in front of the fan so when stationary and things are getting hot the tranny has some cooling help from the fan as well.
