No Overdrive

I have a 1988 IROC with a rebuilt 700r4. Lately I’ve been trying to figure out a trans leak which I thought was the trans pan seal. Turns out it was the detent cable boot. So I took the boot off the trans housing and put a little RTV sealer around it and tighten it back up. Fired it up and topped off the fluid level. I Checked for leaks, and then took it for a spin and found I have no OVERDRIVE. I even tried to shift it manually but still nothing, other than gears 1 , 2, 3 which seem to shift fine. I didn’t think I really needed to reset my detent cable even though I did take off the TV boot from the trans housing, as nothing had changed. So I’m assuming I need to just reset the TV cable, and everything should be fine? So I was hoping for a little input on this.

Re: No Overdrive

I tried to make sure it was still connected when I took it out, but I can just tug on the cable at the throttle body and it should retract right? Also I did take for a spin and as I said it shifts through 1, 2, 3 up and down fine, just no 4/overdrive.

IIRC TV cable doesn't control gear selection ; it controls the shift points and firmness , etc

Ok so what else could it be? I did see alot of tiny bubbles on the dipstick when I took it out for a test run, does that mean anything?
