Removing Torque Arm From 91 Camaro
Hey it's not a bad day in Indiana but cold haha. Time to get some tools out and work Question is How do I remove the Torque arm on a 91 Camaro from the rear end? I took off the two bottom nuts off but where do I go from there?

Re: Removing Torque Arm From 91 Camaro
Step 0: figure out WHY you are thinking you need to take it out. More than likely, you don't.
Step 1: jack the car up by the chassis until the rear end is hanging with the wheels about 3 - 4 inches off the ground.
Step 2: Support the chassis, right where the chassis end of the rear LCAs bolts to it, on jack stands.
Step 3: put your floor jack under the pumpkin, and jack it up just enough to lift the rear off the shocks; maybe an inch or 2 at most.
Step 4: support the rear with 2 jsck stands under the axle tubes. Not, under the shock brackets; not, under the sway bar brackets; not, under the spring perches; not, anywhere else except under the axle tubes.
Step 5: re-consider why it is you are thinking you need to remove it in the first place, since now, it's easy to position it to wherever you want it to hang out.

Re: Removing Torque Arm From 91 Camaro
I am noticing that most people on this forum are smart *** people.. I needed to remove it because When I put my engine back into my CamaroI forgot to reattach my Torque Arm to the tail of my transmission. Question was about how to remove it. *Update* (Rear End) Remove bottom bolts and use a hammer to tap out the bolts. Probably will have to pry the Torque Arm a bit to remove it. No bad at all. I thought there was more to it Hope this helps anyone who are clueless.

You could of also unbolted the cover to the front of the TQ arm bracket and done it that way.

Re: Removing Torque Arm From 91 Camaro
The above instructions are the proper way to do it. The diff needs to drop down to allow enough room for the bolts to come out the top. When the torque arm is removed, the pinion will want to rotate upward making it difficult to reinstall the torque arm.

Right: exactly as I thought.
You don't "have to" remove the torque arm for that. If you do as I describe, you can curl your little figer around it and set it right into place in its little bracket thing, whatever form your swap-in took, with EVERYTHING else still bolted up normally.
No sense in doing any extra work, eh??

It does shift whenever you take it off from the rear and It wasn't crazy hard but we learn from trial and error lol

Yea lol and thanks. I love working on cars and No matter rain or sunshine I'm outside getting it done. All I need done now is exhaust and some rust work and possible turbo setup later on.
