Detent/Tv cable proper adjustment.

Im getting pissed lol. I just rebuilt my engine and swapped it back to a carb from throttle body. So why cant I seem to get this shifting right. I know the detent cable controls the pressure in the lines which can make it shift sooner or later.

Im having issues with this whole entire thing can someone please tell me an easy way to do this so I dont mess my trans up. I know you push the little plunger down to adjust it but what are the steps I take.

Any help would be great thanks a lot!

I don't know if the lines messed up or im just not doing it right. Do I push the plunger down and pull it all the way back? It seems WAY to tight when I do that... Im having trouble finding that happy medium.

You push it all the way back and then open the throttle full so the cable is pulled out the correct distance

Re: Detent/Tv cable proper adjustment.

What carb are you using, & do you have the geometry corrector?

Read the "TV 101 Article"

If your carb isn't properly equipped yet, they will have what you need

What if my cable doesn't "ratchet" out? It seems like im going to break something do I have to use some force for this?

Re: Detent/Tv cable proper adjustment.

Yes. You will think it is about to break. Then it will "pop" out. It aint a smooth ratchet motion like you might think. You wont break anything.

If it is connected properly, just open the throttle by hand all the way. It will go. Always worked for me.
