Piecing together T5s
There is a 95 3.4L Camaro in the U-pull yard I go to with a T5 in it. From what I have seen searching online, this trans has the same spline count as the 3rd gen V8 T5, but uses the Ford style main case, and 4th gen tailhousing. It appears as though there aren't any bellhousings out there that will allow the use of this box behind a GM V8.
Is it possible to use the internals of this transmission in a 3rd gen V8 WC T5, in case the one in the '91 grenades? Or is the input shaft longer? I see the gear ratios are a little different, but not enough that I'm concerned with, and this trans is apparently rated at 305ft/lbs. Are there any modifications needed to the output shaft to run the speedometer on the '91?
Also, has anyone successfully modified a NWC main case to accept WC internals?
Thanks!

Re: Piecing together T5s
This is a thread from a long time ago that I never got any answers from. Still curious on this 8 years later since I routinely see 5 speed v6 4th gens in the pick and pulls now with dirt cheap prices. Anyone ever make use of the internals in a 3rd gen case?

Re: Piecing together T5s
WC internals fit WC cases. WC internals into NWC case would require making bearing sizes fit where different bearing sizes were; since a brand new WC G-force case can be purchased in Muncie GM pattern or Ford pattern, it makes no sense.
I'd have to look at some info, but WC 26 spline V6 guts have a 26 spline maindrive as the sole "upgrade" over the 14 spline WC guts. Not different ratios. I don't recall if the pilot is longer, or if the remainder of the shaft is longer. Since the 14 spline isn't a common failure point, there's no gain.
Really V8 ratios are best for a V8. The V6 ratios are terrible to daily drive. I'd put way more effort into sourcing V8 ratio gears in Tremec / aftermarket parts or a core instead of furiously doing the OMG Cheap V6 Cores! dance around campfire.
