v6 700-r4 adapter plate?
Does anyone know if someone makes an adapter plate to mate a v6 60* 700-r4 to a 90* SBC? Im doing a 350 carb swap into my 86 2.8, and i would like to reuse my trans if possible. From what i read, the bell housing seems to be the only difference between the v8 and v6 700-r4's. Thanks

Re: v6 700-r4 adapter plate?
Im not sure as most ppl want the adapter the other way arround. FYI that 60* tranny doesnt have a good aftermarket at all for torq converters. So if you ever want to lay down any power it would be best to just look in a yard or something for a 90* tranny that will bolt up(I.E 90* belt 700R or TH350)

Yes there is one made.
Doing so would be penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Re: v6 700-r4 adapter plate?
the v6 and v8 trans are identical except for the bellhousings
the v6 trans uses a 27 spline input shaft , in ordert to use it behind the v8 u would have to buy a 10 inch or smaller converter to fit in the bellhousing and 11 inch converter may fit iirc the stock v6 converter is 10.5 or 10.75 inches ( v8 ones will work) but the aftermarket for 27 spline converters is slim and expensive
cheapest way would be to adapt the v6 converter to the v8 flexplate but u would need a crank pilot adapter made cause the pilot on the v6 converter is .600 smaller in diamiter then the v8 version

Huge difference in internal clutch packs, yours won't hold a stock LG4 / LO3. It'll slip within days. Even if you do a shift kit and a servo.

a stock l03/lg4 will not burn up a v6 transmission , niether will a l98
we have turbo v6 cars making tons mor power then any of those engines and they hold up fine till u start reving the motor near 7k and or aproach the 450ftlb mark

Sorry, wrong. Different counts on the fiber clutches and the steels, different apply pistons, different servos, different governors, different pressure regulator springs, V6/60 versions retained the fewer-vaned pumps longer, different valves and springs in the valve body. I've been through both. I've had each completely disassembled. Obviously you haven't.

I havent burned up my tranny yet. Theres alot of hard miles on mine and its all stock minus the poor quality TC.
As long as that TV cable is set right your not burning up a tranny with a LB9 or even A L89.
And there is now way your burning up one with a slug LG4. My stock V6 had almost as much power as that thing...lmao
I cant speak for whats in the guts compared to a V8 tranny. But I know the guts are interchangable as Ive had plenty of convos with Dana about this same subject.
