How to remove trans dipstick grommet
How to remove trans dipstick grommet
Hey guys - 88 GTA Auto Trans. I THINK it's the standard 700R4.
Basic question - I dropped the pan today to change the fluid and figure out where a leak is coming from. The area near the dipstick grommet seemed very dirty...but not caked in oil. Still, I'd like to replace it. How exactly do I remove this grommet? Does it just pry out? Unscrew?
And does anyone have a part number for this grommet that I can find online?
Oh, one more thing: the cooler lines at the top of the pic seem to have a small leak. Any advice on how to reach them and tighten?
Thanks everyone!

unbolt the dipstick from the bell-housing and push the dipstick up. there is very little room to push the dipstick out you may need to tower the tail housing bye removing the cross member.

a crows foot line wrench would work to tighten the lines if they are loose.

Thanks tuned. wrench worked. But the small cooler lines bolts seemed pretty tight. I would imagine a sealant / gasket of some kind isn't used for these, correct? They literally just tighten metal-to-metal?
